There are two types of talks in the world.
One is, “I can’t solve this problem and I need your help” kind of talk, and the other is, “I’m distressed and need someone to listen to me” kind of talk.
Most people know this instinctively, though in practicality many of us let our minds take over – especially those with more intellectual horsepower. We eventually become jaded from attempts at the latter when kindness is reciprocated with malevolence and betrayal.
So, we compensate by approaching the the first with vigor; our brains furiously think of the ‘right’ thing to say, or the ‘right’ thing to do; a lightning storm of ideas and solutions.
When sometimes, all you have to do is… nothing.
Just be still. Be calm. Find your peace so that when you are there for your close ones, they can be at peace too.
