Science of government

There are many reasons to not care about politics.

Having grown up observing my father’s rambunctious tirades every time we got on a taxi, and paying attention to general aphorisms, one learns that politics is something you stay away from if you wish for an amicable conversation: ‘stick to the weather and your health’, right?

Undoubtedly, fear of resembling an ignoramus in front of your peers upon approaching nebulous topics such as “the job market”; whether we’ve finally agreed – after dedicating thousands of news articles – to cover our mouths with a piece of cloth or not; American-Russian political tensions or the Royal Family and its five-thousand relatives, likewise plays a part.

However, the more we put off fixing the damn thing; the more heads it grows.

“A primary object should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the country?”

– George Washington
